Archilume's Configurate Modular Ceiling Canopy
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Monday, May 17, 2021 — Vancouver, BC. Configurate is the powerhouse behind Archilume’s ingenuity.
Configurate is a modular ceiling canopy system that allows Archilume’s pendants to be hung in a myriad of customizable patterns. Configurate uses the ceiling plane as a decorative element to create a completely unique lighting installation for each individual space. The idea was inspired by the plaster rosettes available in Victorian times where the ceiling element introduced a light fixture or chandelier hanging from the centre point of a radial pattern. Over time this element has been reduced to a simple plain ceiling. Configurate brings back an element of function that harkens back to the Victorian rosette with a modern twist.
“We thought, why not have the element of function, with a surface mounted canopy, and blend it with a creative pattern to harken back to that Victorian idea.” - Saleem Khattak
